Braves Marching Band
The Mighty Braves Band is one of the largest student organization in Community ISD. The Marching Band consists of students from both concert ensembles, as well as the award winning Community High School Colorguard. The ensemble performs at football games and school functions where they perform during halftime. The ensemble competes throughout the fall in local contests and UIL events. In 2020, the band was named Alternate for UIL State Marching Contest.
The Concert Band is one of two concert bands in the Community High School band program. The Concert Band meets during 1st period and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Symphonic Band focuses on refining instrument playing skills and performing quality music literature of a higher difficulty level. The Concert Band performs at many concerts throughout the school year, and during the month of April, is a participant in the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest. Additionally, these can participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and the ATSSB All Region process.
The Symphonic Band is one of two concert bands in the Community High School program. The Symphonic Band also meets during 1st period and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Symphonic Band performs the finest wind literature at Community ISD and continues the development of refined, professional skills. The Symphonic Band will perform many concerts throughout the school year and during the month of April is a participant in the UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest. Additionally, these students participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and the TMEA All Region process.
Community High School Jazz Band is an extension of the band program that meets during the Spring and Fall Semester. The ensemble consists of students who are members of the band program. There are no limitations on instrumentation. The Jazz Band performs at band concerts throughout the year as well as outside events. Jazz Band class is offered during 2nd period.
ColorGuard / WinterGuard
The Community Winterguard is constructed of students from grades, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Community High School Guard is an extension of the band program where the colorguard meets during the fall semester and the winterguard meets in the spring semester. The colorguard is a part of the marching band where they perform at football games, school functions, and marching contest. The winterguard performs independently at winterguard competitions with the North Texas Colorguard Association. Unlike colorguard, the winterguard rehearses outside of school hours.
The Community Indoor Drumline is also an extension of the band program lead by Mr. Fitzwater. The Ensemble is constructed from the following grades: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. This indoor percussion ensemble performs independently at contests such as Winter Guard International (WGI) and North Texas Cologuard Association (NTCA). The ensemble rehearses outside of school hours.
