Mr. Carl Frietze

Mr. Carl Frietze is an enthusiastic and passionate educator who has evolved his craft over the past decade. He began his journey as a substitute teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before committing to an alternative licensure program that focused on recruiting science teachers. Mr. Frietze taught AP Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, General Chemistry, Inclusion Chemistry, and Geology at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School in the Albuquerque Public School District for four years. He and his family relocated to North Texas where he focused on leading the science department as chairperson and teaching advanced academics. He taught Pre-AP. AP Chemistry, and AP Seminar at South Garland High School in Garland, Texas.

Mr. Frietze grew up in the rural town of Canutillo, Texas, just outside of El Paso. Public education was the family business where his mother worked in the high school attendance office, his father served on the school board for fifteen years, and most of his aunts worked in the local elementary schools. He graduated high school as salutatorian before attending the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There he double majored and earned his bachelor of science degree in Biology and Psychology. He then earned his teaching certification through the Santa Fe Community College Teacher Education Program. After finding his calling in the field of education, he proceeded to earn his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Mr. Frietze met his best friend and life partner back in Albuquerque and made her his wife. Together they have a daughter and a son who they love spending time together going on family adventures which include golfing, fishing, hiking, picnicking, bike riding, and camping. While Mr. Frietze believes he is making a difference in young people’s lives, his wife actually saves people’s lives working as a nurse at a local hospital. His daughter is a student at the University of Arkansas pursuing a business degree and his son is a rambunctious elementary student. Family is most important to Mr. Frietze and he truly appreciates the being a part of the Community ISD family.
